Job Description

Must love animals! Our small, one-doctor practice is seeking a Veterinary Technician to help us round out our care team. The ideal candidate is hardworking and motivated and can complete a series of designated tasks with little follow up. The ideal candidate also has 1-2 years of experience as a veterinary technician in an animal hospital. Some experience is required. On-the-job training is available. Must be motivated and a self-starter. This job requires a 40-hour week. Compliance with clinic safety and employee policy is mandatory and expected. Contact with clients, patients, and other staff in an often noisy and fast-paced environment. The Veterinary Technician should be comfortable and confident around clients and animals. Overtime pay is provided after 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week.
Job requirements include:
Recording patient history and performing physical examinations and routine treatments Performing routine diagnostic procedures: cytology, radiographs, skin scrapings, SNAP tests, etc.
Performing routine treatments/procedures:
subcutaneous and intravenous injections, nail trim and anal gland expression, IV catheter placement, endotracheal tube placement, etc. Jugular, cephalic, saphenous blood draws Calculating dosages and administer various medications Animal restraint Pre and post-op surgery care Dental prophylaxis Surgical assistance Anesthesia monitoring Wrapping/sterilizing packs Maintaining surgical/diagnostic equipment Routine cleaning and upkeep Able to lift 50 pounds Able to stand/walk for long periods of time Candidates with fear of any animals will not be considered. Must be comfortable with and able to handle large dogs. Pay based on experience; increases based on performance evaluation. Employee discounts available. Must have reliable transportation.
