Job Description

Overview TownWell Veterinary Clinic is a full service clinic providing care to a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, exotics, small ruminants, and show 4-H/FFA animals. We will not be seeing horses or cattle. No weekend hours, occasional emergencies after hours is optional for additional pay. We will have a special focus on canine reproduction, as well as small ruminant and backyard flock care. Come join our new team as we provide excellent veterinary care to Montgomery's pets! Pay will be commiserate with experience and licensing. Duties Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures safely Administer medications and vaccinations accurately following veterinary instructions and aseptic techniques Support animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and cleaning kennels to maintain a healthy environment Handle various species including dogs, cats, exotics (including avian), and small ruminants with confidence and care, utilizing proper animal handling techniques - experience with exotics a plus! Prepare animals for surgery or diagnostic procedures by collecting samples or setting up equipment in accordance with veterinary protocols Maintain detailed records of treatments, medication administration, and laboratory results Support front desk activities including scheduling appointments, managing client communications, and processing payments Process laboratory work such as blood and urine samples, processing tests, and recording results to aid diagnosis and treatment plans Practice veterinary terminology accurately to communicate effectively with team members and clients Ensure aseptic techniques are followed during procedures to prevent infection or contamination Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed Provide patient nursing care and maintain accurate medical records Educate clients on proper pet care, medications, and follow-up instructions Support daily hospital operations, including equipment cleaning and inventory management Qualifications Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT/LVT) or equivalent experience (preferred) Skilled in animal restraint techniques for dogs, cats, and other species including exotics and small ruminants - exotics and small ruminant skills a plus! Canine reproduction and/or small ruminant reproduction knowledge is a plus! Ability to place IV catheters, administer medications and injections, induce and monitor anesthesia (if licensed), recover patients, and assist with breeding procedures, including C-sections. Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures relevant to veterinary medicine Experience with front desk operations including client communication and appointment scheduling is a plus Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and sometimes emotional environment while maintaining attention to detail Willingness to learn new skills related to veterinary critical care, pet care, and laboratory testing Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Compassionate, reliable, and dedicated to patient welfare Experience with Shepherd veterinary practice software is a plus (training provided) Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus. Must be able to lift 50+ pounds as well as partake in farm calls as needed.
