Veterinary Technician (Surgery & Dentistry) Sound Animal - Renton, WA Full-Time | Multi-Level Position (Level 1-3 Based on Experience) Sound Animal is a surgery and dentistry focused veterinary practice dedicated to providing high-quality, efficient, and compassionate care. We are seeking a motivated Veterinary Technician to join our growing clinical team. Technician level and compensation are based on demonstrated skills, experience, and clinical judgment, not tenure alone. This role is ideal for technicians who enjoy anesthesia, dentistry, surgery support, and working in a highly collaborative, well organized environment. What You'll Do (All Levels) Support anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery Assist with surgical and dental procedures Prepare surgical and dental suites using aseptic technique Anticipate daily workflow needs to keep cases running smoothly Ensure patient safety, comfort, and accurate medical records Communicate effectively with doctors and team members Occasionally engage in Veterinary Assistant duties Technician Levels & Expectations Veterinary Technician - Level 1 (Developing) Perform some dental cleanings and polishings Anesthetize select, stable patients with uncomplicated conditions Set up for routine surgeries (spays, neuters, mass removals, uncomplicated foreign bodies) Begin anticipating daily case needs Actively learning surgery and dentistry workflows Veterinary Technician - Level 2 (Proficient in Dentistry or Surgery) Perform full dental cleanings, polishings, and dental radiographs Close extraction sites and perform approved basic procedures (e.g., loose incisors, gingival flaps) Set up for most surgical cases Plan and manage anesthesia for most routine cases Anticipate daily case flow, timing, and equipment needs Ask thoughtful clinical questions and assist with staff learning Veterinary Technician - Level 3 (Advanced ) Recognize and assist in extractions based on oral exam and radiographs Independently manage complex anesthesia cases Set up and support all surgical and dental procedures Serve as a clinical resource for technicians and staff Take on additional responsibilities such as: SOP updates, staff training or mentoring, and leading or organizing CE opportunities What We're Looking For Credentialed Veterinary Technician (or eligible, per WA requirements) Experience in surgery, anesthesia, and/or dentistry preferred Strong attention to detail and patient safety Positive attitude, reliability, and team-oriented mindset Interest in professional growth and clinical excellence Why Sound Animal Heavy surgery focused practice with some dentistry (high skill utilization) Clearly defined technician levels and advancement pathway Supportive, respectful team culture Emphasis on efficiency, quality medicine, and staff development Opportunity to grow into advanced or leadership roles
Compensation:
Competitive and commensurate with technician level and experience
Schedule:
Full-time to start. 32-40 hours a week. Saturdays are required. How to
