In-House Accountant

Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented In-House Accountant to join our dynamic team. This vital role involves managing comprehensive accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering accurate financial reporting. As an integral part of our organization, you will oversee day-to-day financial operations, maintain precise records, and support strategic financial planning. Responsibilities Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements. Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and month-end closing processes. Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely processing and accuracy. Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliations regularly to maintain data integrity. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to guide organizational decision-making. Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and assist with internal audits to uphold financial transparency. Maintain expertise in specialized areas such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), non-profit accounting, securities law, governmental accounting, and technical accounting standards. Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms for efficient financial management. Assist with regulatory reporting requirements and prepare detailed financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. Mentor junior staff members on accounting best practices, fostering a collaborative learning environment. Requirements Proven experience in corporate or public accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP and financial concepts. Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or equivalent systems. Solid knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles, debits & credits, journal entries, and account reconciliation processes. Experience with SOX compliance, regulatory reporting, balance sheet reconciliation, and audit procedures. Familiarity with LIHTC programs, non-profit accounting practices, securities law considerations, governmental accounting standards, and technical accounting issues is highly desirable. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately. Excellent communication skills for clear financial report writing and interpretation. Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred but not required. $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
