Industrial Engineer Company Overview SMT Corp. is recognized as the industry leader in counterfeit electronics detection and supply chain assurance, providing mission-critical components and verification services for high-reliability applications. We operate in a highly regulated environment (AS9120, DLA, CMMC) where precision, compliance, and efficiency are critical to our success. We are looking for a data-driven Industrial Engineer to help us scale our operations while maintaining the rigorous quality standards our customers expect. Position Summary The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing systems for managing quality control and production processes. The primary focus of this role is to drive measurable improvements in capacity, productivity, and on-time delivery (OTD), while creating enhanced visibility into operational performance for leadership and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
Process Optimization:
Analyze manufacturing workflows and utilize Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate waste, reduce cycle times, and increase throughput.Capacity Planning:
Develop and maintain capacity models to ensure the facility can meet fluctuating demand. Identify bottlenecks and propose capital equipment or staffing adjustments.OTD & Scheduling:
Partner with Production Control and Supply Chain to refine scheduling logic, ensuring material flow supports a 100% On-Time Delivery goal.Operational Visibility:
Design and implement real-time dashboards and KPIs to provide "line-of-sight" into production status, labor efficiency, and equipment utilization.Standards & Compliance:
Ensure all process changes remain compliant withAS9120, AS6171, ISO
14001, ITAR, and other requirements.Facility Layout:
Optimize floor layout to minimize travel time and improve Chain of Custody (CoC) integrity. QualificationsEducation:
B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.Certifications:
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.Experience:
3-5 years of experience in a high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environment (Aerospace, Defense, or Medical Device preferred).Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Experience with Time & Motion studies and Value Stream Mapping.
