Your role and responsibilities As a Instrument Controller Specialist, you will serve as a subject matter expert over the diverse and intensive needs of an Intramural Research program. You will interact with scientific research staff in order to support specialized scientific equipment running various operating systems such a Windows, Linux and Macintosh and the related software. This is a client-facing position that requires strong customer service skills. In this role, you will: Learn, document and support Scientific Computation Devices Assist scientists and vendors in the deployment, configuration, ongoing support Scientific Computation Devices Support the configuration of the scientific applications that run on the Scientific Computation Devices Conduct formal software validation, define username and password rules, define user roles, conduct formal audits of COTS vendor manuals, and processes to address critical needs, administer the to monitor all scientific alarm application builds, perform daily check of the systems Administer system to monitor all scientific alarm application builds Perform daily (5 days per week) check of the systems Required education High School Diploma/GED Preferred education Bachelor's Degree Required technical and professional expertise Experience supporting desktop versions MS Windows, Mac OS, Linux & Unix operating systems Installation and configuration of peripheral equipment & accessories Experience with laboratory sciences Familiarity with ServiceNow Able to obtain and maintain an OMB Public Trust clearance Preferred technical and professional experience Experience with scientific computing devices such as MRI Machines, PACS Systems, spectrophotometer, mass spectrometer, optical, electron, and fluorescence microscopes, fluorometer, Illumina genetic sequences, Bio Analyzers, scientific alarm systems. Basic knowledge of IT technical areas including Security, Networking, Hardware and Peripherals, Storage, Database & Applications. Understanding of Configuration Management and ServiceNow CMDB. Industry certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+.
