Interim Accounting Manager (Close Stabilization / Reconciliation Cleanup)
Location:
Houston, TX Contract Length:
3-6 months (possible extension)
Pay Rate:
$60-$85/hour (Rate depends on close ownership, team leadership, and complexity.) Why this interim role exists The close is behind, reconciliations are aging, and leadership needs a steady hand to restore a repeatable month-end cadence . What you'll do (immediate priorities) Take control of the month-end close calendar and deliver on deadlines. Triage and clear reconciliation backlogs; create a simple cadence the team can maintain. Review/prepare journal entries and ensure support is audit-ready. Identify top 5 recurring issues causing close delays and implement quick fixes (templates, ownership, checklists). Partner with Finance/Operations to resolve data gaps and posting issues. Required experience Prior ownership of month-end close in a mid-size to enterprise environment. Strong GL + balance sheet reconciliation discipline. Ability to step into ambiguity and create structure in week one.
Pay Details:
