LAB Are you looking to be part of a collaborative, patient-focused healthcare team? At NMC Health, we're proud to set an award-winning standard for healthcare in the Wichita Metro Area. We are currently seeking a Laboratory Assistant / Phlebotomy Technician to join our Laboratory team. In this role, you will support pre-analytical and designated analytical testing functions in a high-complexity hospital laboratory. Your work will play a critical role in ensuring accurate test results and supporting clinical decision-making. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment. Strong communication skills and a commitment to teamwork and patient care are essential for success in this role. The Laboratory Assistant / Phlebotomy Technician is responsible for specimen collection and processing, order entry, EKG procedures, instrument maintenance, and supporting regulatory compliance. This position works closely with laboratory staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality and efficiency in lab operations. This is a night shift position. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and rotate shifts as needed.Key Responsibilities:
Perform specimen collection and processing in accordance with established procedures Complete order entry and ensure accuracy of patient and test information Perform EKG procedures as assigned Assist with instrument maintenance and basic troubleshooting Support regulatory compliance and quality standards Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and team members Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentQUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required Associate or bachelor's degree in a science-related field preferredExperience:
2-5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory as a phlebotomist preferred Demonstrated ability to identify problems and initiate corrective actions Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) preferredKnowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of phlebotomy techniques, including pre-analytical variables affecting test results Strong oral and written communication skills Excellent customer service and phone skills Basic computer operation skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentLicensure, Registration, or Certification:
Nationally recognized phlebotomy certification preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Join our Team!
