Animal Control Officer - Red Dog Kennel (Leominster & Fitchburg, MA)
Position Type:
Part-time and/or Full-time, 24‑hour on‑call
Pay:
$120-$150 per day starting, plus additional pay for after‑hours calls
Location:
Work-from-home + field response (must live in or near Leominster or Fitchburg) About Us Red Dog Kennel provides animal control services for both Leominster and Fitchburg. We are seeking a reliable, motivated Animal Control Officer to join our team and help ensure the safety and welfare of animals and the public. Job Summary The Animal Control Officer enforces state and local animal welfare laws, responds to animal-related calls, and assists with kennel operations. This role requires independent work, strong judgment, and the ability to respond quickly to calls throughout Leominster and Fitchburg. Responsibilities Respond to calls for but not limited to: Loose or stray dogs Nuisance complaints Cats and wildlife issues Wellness checks Enforce Massachusetts state laws and local ordinances related to animal welfare Capture and control animals posing a threat to public safety Handle undomesticated animals when required Maintain accurate records and documentation Strong computer and social media capabilities Ability to effectively communicate with the public Travel throughout Leominster and Fitchburg using a company vehicle Assist with kennel duties, including walking dogs, cleaning kennels, and yard cleanup Work independently from home and respond promptly to calls Requirements Ability to obtain Animal Control Officer Certification within 12 months of hire Knowledge of state laws and city ordinances related to animal control Strong communication and problem‑solving skills Ability to handle and transport animals safely and humanely Valid driver's license Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to work various hours and maintain physical and mental fitness Must live in or near Leominster or Fitchburg for fast response times Preferred Experience (Not Required) Animal control Law enforcement Veterinary technician Animal handling Schedule 24‑hour on‑call Public calls: 7 AM - 7

Police calls only
Pay:
$120.00 - $150.00 per day
