Document Controls Lead

El Paso, TX Job Details Full-time 11 hours ago Qualifications Construction industry experience Project leadership Full Job Description Praetorian Power Protection, the leader in NETA testing and staff augmentation to the mission-critical industry, is searching for an experienced Document Controls Lead to join our El Paso, TX data center team. In this role, you will establish, implement, and oversee document control standards, workflows, and archival systems across large-scale, high-availability data center construction and commissioning projects. You will lead document management strategies, enforce strict metadata compliance, and ensure seamless information flow between owners, general contractors, engineering teams, and testing personnel.
Key Responsibilities Document Management Strategy:
Establish, standardize, and maintain the central document management system (EDMS) and control policies tailored for high-risk mission-critical construction.
Lifecycle Tracking & Auditing:
Oversee the end-to-end receipt, registration, tracking, distribution, and archival of engineering drawings, submittals, RFIs, change orders, specifications, and test reports.
Commissioning & NETA Documentation:
Organize and manage pre-commissioning logs, NETA electrical test reports, scripts, and multi-level Cx data (L1-L5) to ensure audit readiness and seamless closeout.
Access & Security Governance:
Administer system permission levels, file access rights, and document security protocols to maintain confidentiality and data integrity across multi-company project teams.
Cross-Functional Workflow Lead:
Partner with project managers, field superintendents, QA/QC directors, and design engineers to resolve document bottlenecks and enforce fast turnaround times.
Quality & Compliance Verification:
Perform regular quality checks on incoming and outgoing drawings, specifications, and design updates for proper revision labeling, formatting, and metadata accuracy.
Turnover & Closeout Management:
Drive the compilation, verification, and handover of final As-Built drawings, operations & maintenance (O&M) manuals, warranties, and turnover packages to the client.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
5+ years of dedicated document control experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior role on mission-critical, mega-scale industrial, or high-tech facility projects.
Software Proficiency:
Expert proficiency in construction document control platforms (e.g., Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360, Aconex, Bluebeam Revu, SharePoint).
Technical Familiarity:
Solid understanding of data center construction terminology, MEP engineering drawings, technical submittal workflows, and field inspection reporting.
Communication & Leadership:
Strong organizational skills, sharp attention to detail, and proven ability to enforce process compliance across cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications Certified Document Control Professional (CDCP) or equivalent credential. Experience managing document control for data center hyperscalers or co-location providers. Familiarity with NETA testing documentation, electrical/mechanical commissioning flows, and turn-over package structures.
