Job Description Position Overview:

The Firefighter/EMT is a dual role member of the department having both emergency medical care responsibilities and administrative duties. Position is full-time (40hrs), salaried plus benefits. Schedule can be flexible, but M-F 8:00am - 4:00pm preferred. Salary $58,000 - $60,000 commensurate on experience. The EMT portion of this position is technical in nature, and requires the ability to interact with the public, assess and treat medical emergencies, follow treatment protocols, and properly documenting findings and events on medical records. Work is usually carried out under stressful conditions with potential for contagious diseases and environments to be present, along with chemical and violence hazards. Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform basic life support on sick and/or injured persons at the site of an emergency or enroute to a hospital or other medical facility.

Patient care according to the most current Massachusetts Emergency Medical Services Statewide Treatment Protocols, to include but not limited to; bleeding control, basic and advanced airway maintenance and control, chest compressions, treatment for shock, application and delivery of defibrillation or external pacing, CPR, spinal and fracture stabilization and medication administration.

• Relay relevant patient information to other medical personnel enroute to and upon arrival at appropriate medical facility.
• Perform medical and fire documentation and reporting accurately and completely.
• Maintain supplies and equipment inventories as needed.
• Clean and sanitize equipment as needed.

Town Accountant Desired Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

• Thorough knowledge of State Department of Public Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services treatment protocols.
• Ability to react quickly and remain calm under duress and strain.
• Knowledge as to the operation of all ambulance equipment.
• Proficient at

Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Requirements:

• High School or GED as a minimum
• Must pass a CORI Background
• Maintain valid motor vehicle driver's license
• Maintain valid Massachusetts EMT certification.
• Maintain valid BLS/EMT National card
• Maintain Fire Fighter I or equivalent certification
• Fire Fighter II (preferred)
• Maintain valid CPR card

$58,000.00 per year
