Job Description

Job Title:
Part-Time Firefighter/EMT Hourly Rate of Pay:
$14.00 The Town of Southern Pines is seeking dedicated and qualified individuals to serve as Part-Time Firefighters/EMTs with the Southern Pines Fire Department. This vital role involves protecting life and property through fire suppression, prevention, and emergency response.
Responsibilities:
Respond to emergencies to combat, extinguish, and prevent fires. Operate fire and rescue equipment effectively during emergency incidents. Perform routine care and maintenance of fire stations, firefighting equipment, and associated facilities. Use independent judgment when responding to emergencies, following established standards and procedures. Work under strenuous conditions, including extreme heat, smoke, and confined spaces.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. North Carolina Firefighter Certification. North Carolina EMT-B Certification.
Preferred:
NC Driver/Operator Pumps Certification. Technical Rescuer Certification - NFPA 1006 (2013). Confined Space and Trench Rescue Certifications.
Selection Process:
Qualified applicants must: Successfully complete the department's physical agility test. Pass a written general knowledge test. Undergo a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
