DESCRIPTION:

Perform a wide range of patrol duties, as assigned, to enforce various laws and ordinances, and to protect the general public's constitutional rights, as provided for under county, state, tribal and federal laws. Work from rotating shift patrol assignments, to operate a patrol vehicle in a designated area of the county, with full responsibility for proper personal conduct and enhancement of the County's police image, while carrying out the duties of law enforcement being ever mindful of the constitutional rights of the citizenry, both on and off duty. Employee must perform all duties with minimal supervision. Employee may be required to work irregular hours, attend job related meetings both in and out of town, and perform all other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED certificate required. Must be a Certified NM Law Enforcement Officer. 

MUST PROVIDE COPY OF CERTIFICATION

Must successfully pass criminal and employment background investigations. Must have NO felony or domestic violence convictions or misdemeanors convictions involving moral turpitude. 

MUST COMPLETE A PERSONAL INTEGRITY

 QUESTIONNAIRE (PIQ)

WITH REQUIRED DOCUMENTS.

 Eligibility to work in the U.S. verified thru E-Verify. All job offers are contingent upon successfully passing an agility test, oral board interview, psychological evaluation, and pre-employment physical and drug screen. Must have, or ability to obtain, a current valid NM driver's license and be insurable by the County Insurable Authority.

MUST PROVIDE A CURRENT DRIVING RECORD.

Effective oral and written communication skills in English, is required. Must have the ability to follow directions and orders in English. Basic oral communication skills in Spanish is preferred. Must have the ability to qualify and maintain proficiency with firearm for both day and night. Must have the ability to handle stress and respond appropriately in stressful situations. Must have good vision, hearing, and reflexes. (Physical and vision requirements are based on the New Mexico department of Public Safety guidelines). Ability to perform the essential duties as listed above in the working conditions with the tools, equipment and materials listed below.
