DESCRIPTION

The Criminal Investigations Bureau, Special Investigations Section, is currently accepting applications from sworn officers for the position of Narcotics Unit Detective . The purpose of this specialty opening is to establish an eligibility list for anticipated and future openings. Officers interested in this position must have a minimum of two years of experience as a sworn officer, lateral officers must have one year with Chandler and not be in a probationary status prior to the close of application. The Narcotics Unit is committed to aggressively pursuing those individuals, organizations, and/or entities engaged in the commission of drug crimes and holding each person accountable through arrest and criminal prosecution. Applicants should possess good writing and investigative skills. The selected officer will be required to attend regularly scheduled training and maintain proficiency. This position has a 4-10 schedule, 5% specialty pay and clothing allowance. The position is non-exempt status and may include overtime as necessary for investigation continuity. Successful applicants will be required to sign a waiver to alter MOU Article 4, Section 4-1. Applicants for this position must be prepared for a very flexible schedule, working late and odd hours are to be expected. The testing process will consist of an oral board interview and practical exercise. An eligibility list will be established and will be effective for one year. If the testing process takes place outside the employee's normal work hours, then employees may coordinate with immediate supervisors to flex time to attend their interview/test. Overtime or comp time must be pre-approved and will only be allowed under exceptional circumstances. All applications and résumés are due by October 1 st , 2026, at 11:59 PM.
