DESCRIPTION

The Criminal Investigations Division is currently accepting applications from sworn personnel who are interested in the position of Street Crimes Unit Detective. The purpose of this specialty opening is to establish an eligibility list for future placement within the unit. Officers interested in this position must have a minimum of two years of experience as a sworn officer; lateral officers must have one year with Chandler and not be in a probationary status prior to the close of application. The Street Crimes Unit mission is to prevent, investigate and suppress street-related crimes. Their primary responsibility is to provide proactive enforcement support to the patrol bureau, to include investigating weapons and gang related crimes. Additionally, the unit will collaborate with the Real Time Crime Center as a rapid response component and work with federal and local agencies to address cross-jurisdictional crime. Officers interested in the position must have a minimum of two years of experience as a sworn officer and not be in a probationary status prior to the close of application. Applicants should possess good writing and investigative skills. The position carries a 4/10 shift schedule, Tues - Fri or Wed-Sat, depending upon unit seniority. The position is non-exempt status and may include overtime as necessary for investigation continuity. This position is subject to 5% specialty pay and uniform allowance. You must be prepared for a flexible schedule, working late and odd hours are to be expected . Successful applicants will be required to sign a waiver to alter MOU Article 4, Section 4-1. The testing process will consist of an oral interview and a practical exercise. An eligibility list will be established and will be effective for one year. If the testing process takes place outside the employee's normal work hours, employees may coordinate with immediate supervisors to flex time to attend their interview.
