Compensation:
$90,000 - $95,000 Potential for bonuses based upon production
Responsibilities:
Preside over paralegals, administrative assistants in connection with keeping track of time records, reviewing client billing, setting up client meetings and completing client projects Get the appropriate legal documents ready for clients, such as brief, motions, and pleadings, as well as correspondence Represent clients in court to argue motions during legal proceedings Identify client conflicts and determine case strategies with options for resolution Advise clients by weighing available options toward a successful outcome and plan a course of action Conduct estate planning consultations, design and signing meetings. Advise clients regarding wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, health care proxies, living wills, and related planning strategies. Handle probate and estate administration matters. Conduct annual C.A.R.E. Program review meetings. Review and edit estate planning documents. Build relationships with clients and referral partners. Collaborate with attorneys and staff to deliver an exceptional client experience.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is needed Advanced computer skills working with legal research programs (Westlaw and Lexis) required Minimum 1-2 years' experience working in a law firm environment Public speaking, decision-making, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are necessary for this role Required Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school; representation of clients for at least 2 years a plus Licensed to practice in New York State and in good standing. Two or more years of experience in estate planning, elder law, probate, trust administration, or closely related practice areas. Excellent communication and client relationship skills. NYS Driver's License. Preferred, but not required: Crisis Medicaid planning experience. Familiarity with Irrevocable Medicaid Asset Protection Trust planning. Experience in Special Needs Planning, business succession planning, business entities, asset protection planning, or estate/trust litigation. Public speaking, seminar, or workshop presentation experience is a plus, but not required.
