• total compensation $145,000-$180,000+ with uncapped bonus The role HALS is a bilingual immigration boutique law firm known for one thing: telling clients the truth.

We are looking for the attorney who will lead our litigation practice — defensive and affirmative asylum, removal defense, bond, and detained cases — and help build something bigger: a practice that represents Spanish-speaking families in immigration courts across the country, run from Naperville through a network of coverage attorneys in other cities. New York and Washington, D.C. are the first two. You would set the strategy on every case, direct the local attorneys who appear, and shape the program while it is still being built. What you will do Run consultations, evaluate cases honestly, and sign clients at the firm's published fee schedule. Own a docket of asylum and removal-defense matters from strategy through the individual hearing. Direct a dedicated paralegal team (Naperville and Colombia) and the out-of-state coverage attorneys. Grow into Senior Attorney when the firm adds its second litigation attorney, leading the litigation team. Compensation Base salary of $135,000, plus an uncapped production bonus paid quarterly on the collections of your docket. Total compensation is expected to range from $145,000 to $180,000 or more depending on production, with no ceiling. The bonus is never tied to case outcomes — it rewards production and quality. Remote-first:

in the office a minimum of two days a week, on days when clients choose in-person appointments. What we are looking for Illinois bar admission in good standing; federal district court admission a plus. Experience first-chairing individual hearings in immigration court; defensive and affirmative asylum. Full professional fluency in Spanish and English, written and spoken. Experience supervising paralegals and building case-management processes. A commitment to giving clients honest advice, including advice they may not want to hear.
