Job Description

Overview The Labette County Attorney's Office, Parsons, Kansas, is seeking a qualified self-motivated person for the position of legal assistant. Essential duties include scheduling, phone communication, computer/word processing, supervising diversions and assisting in Juvenile Cases. Marginal duties may include miscellaneous office tasks as necessary. Labette County maintains a drug and alcohol-free work place and is an equal opportunity employer. This role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and a commitment to providing exceptional administrative support within a fast-paced law office environment. Duties Assist attorneys with legal research and case management for various practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, family law, and more. Draft legal documents such as Journal Entries, pleadings, and correspondence while ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards. Conduct interviews with witnesses to gather necessary information for cases. Manage case files using document management systems like PBK. Perform data entry, filing, and clerical tasks to maintain organized case files and documentation. Utilize legal research tools such as LexisNexis to support case preparation. Coordinate project management tasks related to litigation and other legal matters. Maintain effective communication with attorneys, and court personnel while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette. Proofread and edit legal documents for clarity and accuracy before submission. Requirements Proven experience in a legal administrative role or as a paralegal is preferred. Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under tight deadlines. Strong research abilities with attention to detail in reviewing documents and conducting legal research. Experience in project management is a plus. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
