ABOUT THE ROLE
The ACLU of Nevada is seeking a part-time Legal Assistant to support our prisoners' rights litigation. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented and organized, with an interest in issues impacting incarcerated people. Individuals who have been directly impacted by the criminal legal system are encouraged to apply. Part-time employees are not eligible for benefits.Hours:

$20/hourKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage physical and electronic case files using Microsoft SharePoint and Clio Manage Track administrative exhaustion requirements Track correspondence with incarcerated clients Request and organize records from correctional facilities Maintain client intake records and update case status trackers Handle scheduling, billing support, and general administrative tasks Communicate professionally and sensitively with incarcerated people and correctional staff Maintain confidentiality of client informationQUALIFICATIONS
Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfort corresponding with incarcerated individuals High level of discretion and ability to handle sensitive/confidential information Excellent organizational skills and attention to deadlines Experience with Microsoft Applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) Ability to work independently Preferred (not required) Prior experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or in a legal office Familiarity with civil rights litigation, criminal law, or corrections systems Spanish (or other language) fluency Experience with public records requests Experience conducting basic legal research on relevant statutes and case law Coursework or background in law, criminal justice, or social workHOW TO APPLY
