Salary Range:
$45,000 - $55,000 A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant's education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source. Position Summary The Legal Assistant in the Beasley School of Law reports to the Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration and provides high-level administrative, academic, and research support to professors, lecturers, and guest speakers. Legal Assistants support an average of 15 designated faculty members in their teaching, scholarly, clinical or practice-related, and professional activities. The Legal Assistant is responsible for coordinating travel arrangements for assigned faculty members through Temple University's travel agency, reviewing faculty business expenses for compliance with University policies and submitting reimbursement requests, and providing support for course administration through Canvas, including posting announcements, materials, and other course-related content. The Legal Assistant also supports faculty classroom and event-related activities, including reserving space within the Law School, coordinating catering and food orders, supply orders, managing faculty textbook orders, and assisting with the preparation, editing, formatting, and proofreading of correspondence, academic materials, scholarly publications, and other documents as well as other duties as assigned. As needed, the Legal Assistant provides administrative support for faculty grant-funded initiatives, including research, training, and other programmatic activities. The position also supports student-facing responsibilities and activities. To ensure continuity of operations, the Legal Assistant collaborates with colleagues and provides coverage for other Legal Assistants' faculty portfolios during absences. In addition, this role will proctor exams at the end of each semester and be on-site to support Graduation activities at the end of the Spring semester. Job Details This position requires the following background checks: Cash Handling and Personally Identifiable Information background check. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree. At least two years of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Preferred Education and Experience Experience with Learning Management Systems, e.g. Canvas. Experience providing administrative support to multiple stakeholders preferably in a higher ed setting or law firm. Required Skills and Abilities High proficiency in MS Office Suite, including highly proficiency in Excel. Ability to read, understand, and apply University policy to related responsibilities Experience providing administrative support to multiple stakeholders. Strong attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to meet deadlines. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of students, faculty and staff. Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks. Must have the ability to work independently on projects. Commitments to establishing timelines and meeting deadlines. Ability to handle and secure, confidential and sensitive information. Ability to work nights and/or weekends, if necessary. This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
