Job Description

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
The Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) works to end mass incarceration in California. To ensure our communities are safe, healthy, and whole, ARC empowers formerly and currently incarcerated people to thrive by providing a support network, comprehensive reentry services, and opportunities to advocate for policy change. Through our grassroots policy advocacy, we are dedicated to transforming the criminal justice system so that it is more just and equitable for all people.
POSITION SUMMARY ARC
is seeking a Reentry Specialist to provide holistic, individualized, focused reentry services to emerging adults returning to their communities from an 80 bed, in-custody, fire-training program. This is an onsite, in person position. This position requires the ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with young people, correctional officers, other onsite stakeholders, and community-based organizations. The over-arching focus will be on connecting participants to healthy and pro-social support networks and community resources. The Reentry Specialist should be a self-motivated, multi-tasker with a strong case-management and/or residential services provision background, particularly as it relates to serving emerging adults. Being formerly incarcerated is considered a valued asset in this position, along with passion and commitment to social justice reform. This is a position that will interact with governmental agencies, ARC staff, as well as community organizations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Connect program participants to services, benefits, and resources that support previously incarcerated individuals, including community-based providers as well as local, state, and federal social service agencies. Coordinate reentry plans in conjunction with institutional staff, case management team, and community resources. Build rapport and work towards developing a supportive and trusting relationship with program participants. Support youth at required court appearances, provide necessary reports and provide letters of advocacy as part of their transition to the community when requested. Supervise and support the work performance of other onsite ARC Credible Messengers. Data entry with a focus on maintaining resource directories, reentry plans, progress notes, tracking outcomes, and required reports. Focus on individual goals and needs for reentry with hard to place youth county boarders (YCB's) and Youth Offenders. Develop and facilitate onsite rehabilitative life skill workshops and support groups for program participants Attend staff meetings, organizational trainings, stakeholder events as required. Build and maintain relationships with organizations providing services to youth reentering communities. Attend all trainings as required for agency and professional development. Develop and implement trainings for other onsite staff And other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
The Reentry Specialist will have at least 2 years of professional experience supervising staff providing services to a criminal justice or related population. Experience with casefile review, group documentation, and contract compliance essential. Residential experience preferred. The Reentry Specialist will have the following experience and attributes: Bachelor's degree from accredited institution in health, human, social, or behavioral Sciences or a closely related field and three (3) years of social service-related work experience A combination of work/educational experience that demonstrates service provision in reentry services for formerly incarcerated emerging adults. Excellent people and communication skills, with experience in collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse and dynamic team environment. Strong and effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. ARC strongly encourages qualified formerly incarcerated and system-impacted individuals to apply. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse staff, clients and community. Able to sit or stand for long periods of time. SALARY/BENEFITS
Pay rate: $32 - $36/hr ARC pays up to 100% medical/dental/vision benefits for individual; 50% for dependents. 10 paid vacation days, 6 paid sick days.
