We are seeking a Construction Safety Officer to join our team and lead safety initiatives across our construction operations nationwide. 5-10 years in construction safety or related field What you would do Typical responsibilities could include: Developing, implementing and monitoring safety management plans aligned with regulatory standards and project timelines Conducting site audits, safety inspections and incident investigations to identify hazards and non-compliance Leading safety training and toolbox talks with site teams and contractors to reinforce safe practices and compliance Coordinating with project managers on construction sequencing to integrate safety protocols at each phase Managing safety documentation, permits, incident reporting and regulatory submissions Liaising with external safety auditors, health and safety authorities and insurance partners Supporting budget control and cost management by identifying efficiency gains and reducing safety-related incidents and delays Mentoring and guiding site-based teams on best practices and continuous improvement What you could bring Most roles of this type require the following: Must-have 5-10 years of experience in construction safety, site safety management or occupational health and safety Current SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification or equivalent First Aid certification Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, building codes and construction safety standards Proficiency with safety management systems and incident reporting software Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across multiple levels Proven ability to work independently and coordinate across field and office-based teams Authorization to work in the United States Nice-to-have Background or degree in Engineering or Occupational Safety NEBOSH qualifications or additional safety certifications Experience managing safety on large-scale or complex construction projects Familiarity with budget management and cost control in a construction environment What roles of this type could offer Most roles of this type offer the following, dependent on the industry and seniority of the role: The opportunity to drive meaningful safety culture change and reduce workplace incidents across multiple projects Scope to shape safety strategies and contribute to operational excellence in a dynamic construction environment Exposure to diverse project types, construction methods and stakeholder groups Potential for progression toward senior safety leadership roles, where supported by performance and organizational needs Comprehensive benefits package including health coverage, paid time off, professional development support and retirement planning options Collaborative team environment with access to ongoing training and industry certifications About Specialist Staffing Group Specialist Staffing Group partners with leading organizations to connect skilled professionals with meaningful construction and site management roles.
