Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Home Health Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in occupational therapy, with experience working in diverse settings such as home health, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and inpatient environments. This role involves providing essential support to clients of all ages, including pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders or disabilities. The Occupational Therapy Assistant will collaborate closely with licensed occupational therapists and healthcare professionals to implement care plans that promote independence, improve functional abilities, and enhance quality of life. Responsibilities Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, dressing, feeding, and mobility to foster independence and improve overall well-being. Implement treatment plans designed by licensed occupational therapists, ensuring adherence to prescribed interventions and protocols. Support pediatric clients with developmental delays or autism spectrum disorder through targeted occupational therapy techniques. Facilitate patient transport within the home or healthcare facility to ensure safe movement during therapy sessions. Document care activities accurately and comprehensively in client records, maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, caregivers, and clients to communicate progress and adapt care strategies as needed. Utilize manual handling skills and physiological knowledge to assist with patient transfers, positioning, and therapeutic exercises safely. Contribute to care documentation processes by recording observations related to client progress, treatment responses, and any changes in condition. Engage in ongoing professional development related to medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and specialized areas such as pediatric occupational therapy or occupational health. Experience Prior experience working in home health settings is required; outpatient clinic or skilled nursing facility experience is highly valued. Demonstrated competence in assisting with ADLs across diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals with disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders. Acute care experience is advantageous for managing clients with complex medical needs requiring close monitoring. Familiarity with medical imaging concepts can enhance understanding of client conditions when relevant. Proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams while maintaining clear communication with clients and caregivers. Experience implementing treatment plans for clients with childhood developmental delays or autism spectrum disorder is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and occupational therapy principles essential for effective client care delivery.
