Job Summary This job is in the Safety job family (Department), which covers positions managing, supervising, leading, and/or performing work involving safety, health, and environmental issues anticipating, dealing with, eliminating, or controlling hazardous conditions, exposures, and practices. These hazards may result from human error, equipment, or machine operation and may lead to injuries or damage to property or the environment. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Job Function Conduct orientation sessions for all new-hire employees. Lead or assist with monthly job safety trainings and policy reviews. Upload and maintain accurate training documentation. Track employee training progress and help ensure all required training is completed. Provide supervisors with the necessary materials to train new employees effectively. Perform facility inspection audits to support safety and compliance. Monitor employee safety practices on the floor and evaluate training effectiveness. Lead Safety Stand Downs to reinforce key safety expectations. Serve as an active member of the Safety Committee. Assist with completing Safety Culture Action items assigned to the location. Attend and help lead Root Cause meetings. Participate in monthly safety meetings. Review pre-shift and 5S inspections and ensure they are completed accurately and on time. Required Skills 0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and safety or operations experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required. High School diploma/GED required. Knowledge of Data Analytics, OSHA Compliance, Safety, etc. practices and key trends preferred. Knowledge of Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co.'s Policies and Procedures for Safety & Environmental Health preferred. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required. Ability to exercise discretion when handling sensitive information required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including innovative and engaging ways to convey messages across the organization required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail required. Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including analysis, knowledge and experience, and judgment required. Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers, building trust and open lines of communication across the organization required. Strong computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
