Job Description

Description We are looking for an EHS Specialist to support a steel manufacturing operation by strengthening workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory readiness. This position plays a key role in promoting a compliant and well-trained workforce through hands-on guidance, program coordination, and proactive risk identification. The ideal candidate brings practical experience in safety administration, employee training, and incident response within an industrial setting.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee day-to-day compliance with occupational safety and environmental regulations applicable to a steel manufacturing facility.
  • Perform regular site reviews, safety walkthroughs, and compliance audits to uncover risks and drive corrective action.
  • Build, update, and manage safety and environmental procedures covering areas such as hazard communication, energy isolation, and emergency response.
  • Lead investigations into workplace injuries, near misses, and environmental events, documenting root causes and recommending preventive measures.
  • Deliver training sessions that improve employee understanding of safe work practices, hazard recognition, and emergency protocols.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness efforts, including response planning, drills, and communication procedures for site incidents.
  • Support sustainability efforts by contributing to initiatives focused on waste reduction, recycling, and environmental performance improvement.
  • Partner with HR and operations teams to reinforce safety expectations during onboarding and orientation. Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience in Human Resrouces, with an interest in environmental, health, and safety in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and general safety compliance practices.
  • Familiarity with inspections, document findings, and follow through on corrective actions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train employees at different levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with onboarding processes, HR administration support, or safety orientation for new employees.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
