Job Description:
LEAP Academy University Charter School is seeking a reliable, alert, and safety-conscious Education Safety Monitor to help maintain a safe, secure, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors. The Education Safety Monitor will provide a visible security presence throughout the school and grounds, monitor student movement and building access, respond to safety concerns and emergencies, and enforce school rules and procedures. The ideal candidate will be observant, professional, detail-oriented, and comfortable interacting with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries and authority. This position requires the ability to remain alert, respond quickly to changing situations, and work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, staff, students, and emergency personnel.
Shift Hours:
3:00 PM – 9:00 PM •Flexible scheduling may be required for evenings, weekends, assigned holidays, and special assignments
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Prior security or school safety experience preferred; SORA certification or CUSPA training preferred. Strong observation, communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills. Ability to enforce school rules and safety procedures professionally and consistently. Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to safety concerns and emergencies. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively in English. Ability to use basic office equipment and video monitoring systems. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Monitor hallways, lunch periods, entrances, and other student areas to maintain a safe and orderly environment. Monitor student, staff, and visitor movement and ensure compliance with school policies and access procedures. Maintain a visible security presence to deter unsafe, unauthorized, or disruptive activity. Assist administrators, teachers, and staff with student transitions and maintaining appropriate student behavior. Conduct routine patrols of school buildings and grounds and assist with opening and closing procedures. Monitor and review security cameras and report safety concerns, incidents, property damage, or suspicious activity. Respond promptly to emergencies and contact appropriate administrators, emergency personnel, or law enforcement as needed. Complete accurate incident reports and maintain required safety documentation. Work collaboratively with the Education Safety Supervisor and school staff to support a safe school environment. Attend required training and perform other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment:
2026/2027 10-month or 12-month contracted position. Salary, hours, and work year to be determined by the Board in consultation with the Lead Person.
Salary Range:
Starting at $17/hr
