Job Description

North Shore Animal League America is currently seeking part time Campus Security Associates to be responsible to secure the entire NSALA campus and prevent animals from being abandoned through patrolling the grounds, interacting with the public and providing them with the proper information regarding a pet they can no longer keep or a stray animal. Direct the public throughout the campus to the proper buildings and answer their questions accordingly. Assist NSALA Management and staff with deescalating situations on campus. There are two (2) open part time positions, 16 hours a week and 24 hours a week.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Exterior Rounds Prevent abandoned animals Alternating foot patrol throughout the entire campus perimeter Have a keen eye for detail regarding loitering members of the public Monitor the campus for any unauthorized vehicles or people looking to surrender animals All NSALA adopters wanting to return an animal will requiring taking down all pertinent information for returns department and notify Kennel Manager on duty Provide information regarding other shelters to members of the public with stray or abandoned animals Monitor grounds for problems that might arise and direct the public and answer questions accordingly Monitor Parking Lots Contact staff / volunteers / public if cars need to be relocated Coordinate coverage of high traffic areas with team members Direct public throughout campus. Ensure proper flow of traffic throughout campus Set up campus for events, reserve parking spots and/or tape off lots when needed Collect and properly distribute/dispose of donated items Tour grounds and secure League buildings Properly arm and disarm buildings on campus Assist any PD or FD that may arrive on campus due to alarm or emergencies Have a keen eye for detail regarding damaged items on campus and notify facilities supervisors immediately about safety concerns Reports and Phone Complete return paperwork for intake afterhours Provide incident reports, accident reports, and drop reports as necessary Handle Campus Security phone and keys Answer all phone calls/reply to voice messages Security Support Have a thorough understanding of NSALA's policies and procedures regarding adoption Inform potential adopters that they have been denied adoption according to NSALA's adoption policies De-escalation of situations and/or conflicts Escorting adopters that have been denied adoption off campus and contacting PWPD if necessary Call EMS in case of medical emergencies Escort staff carrying money or other sensitive material between buildings Escort staff or volunteers that have been terminated off campus Prevent ex-staff or volunteers from coming on campus or trying to go behind the scenes Assist all departments and staff on campus regarding upset clientele and adopters Additional Responsibilities Have a keen eye for detail regarding animal welfare Safely handle drop animals if needed Collect and distribute/dispose of donated items Pick up supplies needed for kennel/pet store Cover overnight shifts as necessary Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Desire to make a positive difference in the lives of animals Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skill Ability to deal with the public and deescalate any situation and/or contact police when necessary Report writing and documentation skills Quick reaction time to high priority situations Attention to detail Ability to work independently Reliable and punctual Security certificate/previous law enforcement a plus
Salary:
