DESCRIPTION
The School Security Officer is responsible for helping provide a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors throughout the school district. The officer will maintain a visible presence on school campuses, remain available to school administration, and proactively monitor school facilities and grounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a visible security presence throughout the school campus.
Monitor hallways, parking lots, entrances, and other designated areas of the school district.
Assist school administration with maintaining a safe and secure campus environment.
Identify and report safety and security concerns and respond appropriately to incidents.
Work cooperatively with school administrators, faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
Coordinate and cooperate with local police departments and other emergency response agencies when appropriate.
Assist with school safety procedures, emergency response, and security-related activities.
Perform other security and safety duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License and maintain a safe driving record.
Prior law enforcement training, police department experience, or professional security experience preferred.
Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism in a school environment.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT PAPERWORK REQUIREMENTS
Clearances and Physical must be within 12 months. TB must be within 90 days of hire. PA State Police Clearance (Act 34)
