About International Residence Hall (IRH) International Residence Hall is the nation's most experienced operator of employee housing for BridgeUSA J-1 Work Travel students. Serving participants from over 30 countries, IRH provides a comfortable, safe, and welcoming home-away-from-home. Our facilities support a positive and fun environment that fosters cultural exchange, friendships, and meaningful memories. Position Summary Security plays a vital role in ensuring safety, patrolling premises, monitoring surveillance equipment, ensuring access control and responding to alarms and emergencies. This position is a part-time role . Key Responsibilities Ensure Resident Safety & Campus Security Maintain a safe and secure residential environment by patrolling assigned areas on foot, identifying safety concerns, and reporting violations or unusual activity to the Residence Director or Supervisor. Provide assistance with resident lockouts, verify resident safety during fire alarms, and carry out other duties as assigned. Risk Prevention & Hazard Identification Reduce the risk of injury, property damage, or theft by conducting regular inspections of buildings and grounds. Light Housekeeping as required. Identify and report unsafe conditions (e.g., malfunctioning lights, unsecured doors, broken railings), and perform minor corrective actions when possible. Emergency Response & Incident Management Respond to fire, medical, weather, and security-related emergencies and natural disasters using IRH's Systems of Success Manual. Assess situations quickly and take appropriate action to safeguard residents, staff, property and the environment Medical Assistance Administer CPR or first aid as needed during medical emergencies. Contact emergency services, remain with the affected individual(s) until relieved by proper authorities, and document the incident in detail. Community Engagement & Support Represent IRH positively by offering directions and assistance to residents, visitors, and staff respectfully and helpfully. Foster a welcoming environment and always uphold professional standards of conduct. Reporting & Documentation Accurately document all shift activities, incidents, and complaints using approved formats. Submit timely and detailed reports to the appropriate supervisor for review and follow-up. Qualifications and Requirements Previous experience in security Ability to stand, walk and potentially lift items as required by role. Clear and effective communication for interrupting others, reporting incidents and following procedures Ability to think and act effectively in emergencies Basic Computer Skills
