Under the general supervision of the Manger of Safety and Transportation, the Bus Driver has the primary responsibility for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of the staff and volunteers during bus transportation to and from the center and on trips. It is also the role of the Bus Driver to: ensure that the bus is clean, fueled and in proper working condition at all times; determine and follow safe and efficient bus routes to ensure timely arrival.
POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS
: High school graduate, preferred Clear Texas Drivers License required Minimum Two (2)years' experience as driver Excellent customer service skills. Good written and verbal communication skills required. Bilingual - English/Spanish.
Responsibilities:
Ensures the safety and well-being passengers being transported to and from the clinic, or hospital Arranges for the annual state inspection of the bus assures, with prior approval, purchases and/or repairs are made pursuant to state inspection. Completes a comprehensive written inspection of the bus daily, reporting any conditions of concern to the Director, or delegated staff person, before driving bus. Ensures that the communication device (e.g. two-way radio, cellular phone) is in proper working order before each trip. Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of bus (e.g., oil change); transporting the bus to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities. Ensures that the bus always has sufficient fuel. Ensures that there is always fresh drinking water on the bus. In consultation with the Director, develops and follows efficient and safe written bus routes . Operates bus in such a way that road and safety regulations are always followed; reports any traffic violations to the Director immediately. Ensures safety of staff at all times during transportation. Keeps the bus clean and free of debris; follows other bus cleaning procedures. Routinely inventories bus emergency and first aid supplies and equipment, reports needs to the Director, or delegated staff person. In case of accidents/emergencies, evacuates staff according to written and practiced procedures. In the event of an accident, assures that medical emergency procedures are followed; completes a written accident report as required by delegate's procedure and other authorities. Attends and participates in center pre-service and in-service trainings, and other continuing education, career and professional development opportunities. Performs other duties, as assigned.

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
: Minimum of two ( 2 ) years' experience as a driver Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment. Excellent interpersonal skills and must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues. Organizational skills are necessary Good written and verbal communication skills required Requires working with frequent interruptions. Must project a professional and positive image. Visual and auditory acuity within professionally determined normal ranges, with correction if needed

: Employees must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirement relative to his or her age.
