Job Description

PURPOSE The Security Officer is responsible for protecting Medina Healthcare System (MHS) property, patients, visitors, and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment. This role includes patrolling facilities, monitoring activity, enforcing policies, responding to emergencies, and supporting crime prevention efforts. The Security Officer serves as a visible presence to deter unsafe or unlawful behavior while providing exceptional customer service and assistance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Security & Patrol Operations Patrol and monitor hospital premises regularly to deter criminal activity and ensure a safe and secure environment. Control access points and monitor the entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and vehicles in accordance with established protocols. Secure facilities by locking doors and identifying vulnerabilities. Safety & Incident Response Respond promptly to incidents, safety concerns, and security breaches. Assist with emergency evacuations and provide basic first aid as needed. Evict trespassers or violators in accordance with legal and organizational guidelines. Report traffic, safety, and security violations to appropriate authorities. Reporting & Documentation Prepare detailed and accurate incident, offense, and accident reports for internal use and potential legal documentation. Document and report facility issues (e.g., leaks, equipment malfunctions, lighting concerns) identified during patrols. Customer Service & Support Provide guidance, directions, and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff. Assist individuals with vehicle issues such as lockouts or disabled vehicles. Provide escorts for employees, visitors, and special transports as needed. Collaboration & Compliance Enforce Medina Healthcare System policies and procedures. Assist and cooperate with local law enforcement and emergency response agencies. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
(Education and Experience) High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of three to six months of related experience or training required; one (1) year of security experience preferred. Formal security training preferred. Valid Texas Driver's License required. Must obtain hospital-provided Level II Non-Commissioned Security Officer License upon hire. Basic knowledge of security operations, safety practices, and emergency response procedures preferred. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with diverse populations in a healthcare setting.
