Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Heavy Equipment Mechanic to oversee the maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of a diverse fleet of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. In this leadership role, you will supervise a team of technicians, ensure safety standards are upheld, and deliver exceptional service to keep operations running smoothly. Your expertise in heavy equipment systems, OEM specifications, and mechanical troubleshooting will be vital in maintaining optimal equipment performance and safety. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team while applying your extensive mechanical knowledge and hands-on skills in a fast-paced environment. Duties Lead and mentor a team of heavy equipment technicians, providing guidance on repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance procedures Oversee the inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy machinery Utilize schematics, OEM manuals, and diagnostic tools to accurately identify issues with hydraulic systems, transmissions, air brakes, suspensions, electrical components, and HVAC systems Perform fabrication tasks such as welding, soldering, and assembly to repair or modify equipment as needed Conduct routine maintenance services including tire service, brake repairs, alignment adjustments, hydraulic system servicing, and diesel engine repairs Ensure all work complies with safety standards and industry regulations while maintaining high-quality workmanship Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, parts used, and service history for each piece of equipment Qualifications Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment operation and repair across various industries such as construction or agriculture Dealership experience or OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) knowledge preferred for specialized diagnostics and repairs Strong understanding of schematics for electrical systems and hydraulic diagrams Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance tools effectively Ability to read technical manuals and perform automotive diagnostics on diesel engines and transmissions Experience with fabricating metal parts or components using welding or soldering techniques Knowledge of safety protocols related to heavy lifting, tire service, air brake systems, HVAC systems, and general vehicle maintenance Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coordinate a team's workflow efficiently while ensuring quality standards are met This role is perfect for a proactive leader who thrives on technical challenges and is passionate about maintaining top-tier industrial equipment.
