Job Description

Bethany Athletic Club's new childcare center Bkids, seeks two Lead Teachers to join the Bkids team! Successful candidate will be responsible for supervising, nurturing, and caring for children from ages 6 weeks - 5 years old. This individual is expected to, among other things, welcome children each day, engage in crafts and activities, change diapers, and ensure the safety of all children. Additionally, they are also responsible for the direct supervision of teaching aids, and assistant teachers.

Main Responsibilities:
(Preschool Teacher Only) Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that supports the whole child, including social-emotional, cognitive, and physical growth. Lead daily classroom routines, activities, and transitions with consistency, clarity, and intention. Observe, document, and assess children's development using approved tools; use this information to guide instruction and communicate progress to families. Build positive, responsive relationships with children that support individualized learning and behavior guidance. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment aligned with licensing and program standards. Communicate regularly and respectfully with families, offering updates on learning, behavior, and classroom events. Collaborate closely with the Assistant Director to align classroom practices with program goals, licensing expectations, and center-wide initiatives. Mentor and support the Assistant Teacher by modeling best practices, setting clear expectations, and providing feedback and guidance. Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and program policies. Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing program improvement efforts. Foster an inclusive learning environment that respects and celebrates diversity, encouraging each child's sense of belonging and identity. Model professionalism in all interactions and serve as a leader within the teaching team and broader program community.
Qualifications:
Certified in CPR/First Aid Highly motivated Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Excellent management and leadership skills Excellent organizational skills EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) from college or university with a major in: Early childhood education Child development Elementary education Special education Associate degree (AS/AA) from a college with a major in: Early childhood education Child development A one-year state or nationally recognized credential related to preschool-age care. Completion of 20 credits (semester system) or 30 credits (quarter system) of training at a college or university in: Early childhood education Child Development Elementary education Special education AND at least one year of qualifying teacher experience• in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of preschool-age children At least two years of qualifying teaching experience, with at least one year as a teacher, in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of preschool-age children Documentation of attending at least Step 8.5 in the Oregon Registry
TRAINING
Head teachers must have completed OCC approved health and safety training (before having unsupervised access to children) Have completed a minimum of two hours of training on child abuse and neglect that is specific to Oregon law before they can have unsupervised access to children. If the center is certified to care for infants, the head teacher must have completed OCC approved safe sleep training.
