Job Description Overview A Learning and Development Manager leads the Trainers branch of the Learning and Development team, with primary responsibility for the delivery, facilitation, and scheduling of instructor-led training programs across the organization. This role directly manages a team of trainers, ensures training is executed effectively and consistently, and serves as the operational link between approved training content and the employees who receive it. The Training and Development Manager reports to the Director of Learning and Development and works collaboratively with instructional design and LMS colleagues to support cohesive, high-quality learning experiences. While this role does not own instructional design or LMS functions, a working understanding of both is expected to effectively coordinate across the department. Lead the planning and coordination of training delivery across the organization, ensuring sessions are scheduled, staffed, and executed on time and to a consistent standard of quality. Maintain clear visibility into training schedules, trainer assignments, and delivery status, and provide regular updates to the Director of Learning and Development on team progress and outcomes. Anticipate and resolve scheduling, staffing, or logistical constraints that could impact training delivery, and proactively communicate changes or concerns to the Director and relevant stakeholders. Collaborate closely with instructional design and LMS colleagues within the L&D team, as well as department supervisors and managers across the organization, to coordinate training logistics and support a cohesive learner experience. Hold L&D trainers accountable for follow-through on assigned responsibilities, establish clear performance expectations, and foster a team culture of reliability, professionalism, and continuous growth. Facilitate and oversee the delivery of training programs, including new employee orientation, on-the-job training, and other required learning, ensuring content is delivered accurately and consistently in alignment with approved materials from the instructional design team. Gather and communicate feedback from training participants and departmental stakeholders to the Director and instructional design colleagues, supporting ongoing improvements to training content and delivery approaches. Monitor the quality and consistency of training delivery across the L&D trainer team, collect participant feedback, and use that information to support trainer development and report outcomes to the Director of Learning and Development. Ensure training delivery meets organizational, regulatory, and accreditation standards, and coordinate with the LMS team to confirm that attendance, completion records, and required documentation are accurately maintained. Maintain a working understanding of the learning management system to effectively coordinate with the LMS team on scheduling, session setup, and tracking, and to support trainers in navigating system requirements as needed. Complete and maintain instructor-level certifications, as required (e.g., PCM, CPR, First Aid). Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, company policy, and regulatory agency standards. Travel between sites is required, including occasional out-of-state travel, to support training and organizational needs. May be required to drive vehicles, be insurable with our auto insurance provider, and complete company vehicle training. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in education, training and development, human services, psychology, or a related field is required. Minimum six (6) years of experience as a training professional, including direct experience facilitating or delivering training programs for adult learners, is required. At least two (2) years of supervisory or management experience required; experience managing a team of trainers preferred. Working familiarity with instructional design concepts and learning management systems is expected.
