Nursing Instructor Job Description Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursing Instructor to join our team in fostering the next generation of nursing professionals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nursing, along with teaching experience in higher education. This role involves developing and delivering curriculum, supervising students in clinical settings, and ensuring that educational standards are met. The Nursing Instructor will play a crucial role in preparing students for successful careers in various nursing fields. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging curriculum for nursing courses, ensuring alignment with educational standards and industry requirements. Deliver lectures and facilitate classroom discussions using effective teaching methodologies. Supervise students during clinical rotations in various healthcare settings, including hospitals and teaching hospitals. Evaluate student performance through assessments, documentation review, and feedback. Provide mentorship and support to students, fostering a positive learning environment. Collaborate with faculty members to enhance the nursing program and integrate learning technologies such as Canvas. Conduct research to stay current with advancements in nursing education and practice. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to program development initiatives.
Requirements and Experience:
An Active RN or LVN License in California. 2 Years Nursing Experience (RN or LVN). One (1) of the two years must be as a licensed nurse providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting. Must have a DSD Certification. Active CPR/BLS certification from American Heart Association AND one of the following: One (1) year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing or a DSD Certification will suffice. Proven experience in higher education teaching, particularly in nursing programs. Supervising experience within clinical or academic settings is highly desirable. Familiarity with medical terminology, patient care practices, and care plans across various specialties including acute care, critical care, pediatrics, and senior care. Experience working with students in an educational capacity is essential; classroom experience is a plus. Knowledge of curriculum development processes and adult education principles. Previous hospital experience or critical care experience is beneficial.
