JOB OVERVIEW
Harb Security Systems is seeking a dependable and experienced Security System Technician to install, service, maintain, and troubleshoot commercial security and low-voltage systems. The ideal candidate is technically capable, professional, dependable, and able to troubleshoot independently while maintaining high standards for workmanship, documentation, and customer service.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Install, configure, service, and troubleshoot CCTV/IP surveillance systems. Install and service access control systems, card readers, controllers, electric strikes, magnetic locks, and related door hardware. Install and troubleshoot intrusion and fire alarm systems when qualified. Install and terminate Cat5e/Cat6 and other low-voltage cabling. Install NVRs, network switches, power supplies, sensors, and related equipment. Perform system upgrades, preventative maintenance, and field service calls. Troubleshoot wiring, equipment, IP/network, and communication issues. Read wiring diagrams, schematics, floor plans, and manufacturer documentation. Test completed installations to verify proper operation. Complete accurate service reports, job documentation, and required job-site photos. Maintain a clean and professional work area. Protect customer property and communicate professionally with customers. Maintain accountability for company tools and equipment. Follow company procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Security system or low-voltage experience preferred. Experience with CCTV, access control, intrusion alarms, fire alarms, or structured cabling. Basic understanding of computer networking, IP addressing, PoE, and network switches. Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical documentation. Experience with electronic locks and door hardware is a plus. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and lifts. Knowledge of NEC and proper low-voltage installation practices is preferred. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to travel to customer job sites. Must be dependable, punctual, and professional.
PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS
Technicians are expected to arrive on time, wear proper company work clothing, maintain a professional appearance, communicate respectfully with customers and coworkers, and take ownership of assigned work. Technicians must properly maintain company-issued tools and immediately report damaged, lost, or missing equipment. All work must be tested and properly documented before a job is considered complete.
FIELD & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This is a hands-on field position that may require working from ladders or lifts, pulling cable, lifting equipment, and working in commercial buildings, warehouses, parking garages, and outdoor environments. Travel throughout Cleveland, Akron, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo, Cincinnati, and surrounding areas may be required. Some projects may require overnight, evening, or weekend work.
