Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Fire Alarm Low Voltage Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems and low voltage electrical components across commercial properties ( cctv, security alarms and access).Your expertise will ensure that fire alarm systems operate reliably, meet all building codes and NFPA standards, and provide maximum safety for occupants. Duties Install, inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm systems, including proprietary fire alarm control panels and sensors, ensuring compliance with NFPA standards and local fire codes. Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to accurately execute system design and installation plans. Utilize CAD software for system layout planning and schematic development. Conduct field service visits for troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, and system modifications on fire alarm systems and sprinkler systems. Perform construction inspections to verify building code compliance during new installations or renovations involving low voltage wiring and fire alarm components. Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized testing equipment to install wiring, sensors, alarms, and control panels efficiently and safely. Provide exceptional customer service by explaining system functions to clients, training staff on system operation, and addressing any concerns promptly. Qualifications Proven experience reading electrical blueprints, schematics, and working with construction drawings related to fire alarm or low voltage systems. Strong mechanical knowledge of fire alarm systems, sensors, sprinklers, and proprietary control panels. Familiarity with CAD software for system design or layout planning is preferred. Knowledge of NFPA standards (National Fire Protection Association), NEC (National Electrical Code), fire codes and regulations related to fire alarm systems. Hands-on experience with electrical work including wiring, troubleshooting engineering issues, and system testing in commercial environments. Ability to perform building inspections ensuring code compliance during installation or upgrades of fire alarm or sprinkler systems. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, testing devices for alarms or sensors; comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces as needed. Excellent customer service skills with a focus on clear communication and professional interaction with clients. Valid low voltage electrical license or certification is highly desirable; ongoing training in fire alarm sales or system upgrades is a plus.
