$75,000-$95,000 An established fire protection and life safety contractor in the Kent, WA area is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to join its team. This is a hands-on design position for someone who understands the entire project lifecycle and takes ownership of producing accurate, constructible, and code-compliant sprinkler designs. The Designer will work closely with project management, estimating, field personnel, customers, vendors, and other trades from initial survey through installation and closeout. Responsibilities Design fire sprinkler systems using AutoSPRINK and AutoCAD Review contract drawings, specifications, and project requirements Perform detailed site surveys and field verification Ensure designs comply with applicable NFPA codes and project requirements Coordinate sprinkler layouts with architectural, structural, and MEP trades Utilize overlay/BIM coordination to identify conflicts before installation Prepare permit drawings, hydraulic and seismic calculations, and material submittals Respond to AHJ comments and plan-review requirements Generate accurate material lists, fabrication reports, and installation drawings Coordinate material requirements with vendors Provide design support to field teams throughout installation Communicate design changes affecting schedule, labor, or project cost Maintain project awareness from initial design through closeout Qualifications 5+ years of fire sprinkler industry/design experience AutoSPRINK and AutoCAD proficiency required Strong knowledge of NFPA 13, 13R, and 13D Experience designing commercial, residential, and/or industrial sprinkler systems Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings NICET Level II Water-Based Systems Layout certification preferred BIM/3D experience is a plus Strong organizational and project-management skills Ability to independently manage multiple active projects Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with office and field teams Benefits Competitive compensation plus health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with employer match, paid time off, and paid holidays.
