Tire and Lube Technician and Sale Advisor Hybrid Mallard Auto Care Castro Valley, CA Job Details Full-time $20 - $27 an hour 5 hours ago Qualifications Service writing Teamwork Sales Driver's License Attention to detail Full Job Description Mallard Auto Care is looking for a motivated, customer-focused individual to join our team in a hybrid Lube Technician / Service Advisor position. This role is designed for someone who is comfortable working both in the shop and with customers. You will perform routine maintenance and entry-level automotive services while also assisting at the front counter, communicating with customers, presenting repair recommendations, and helping close sales. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop both their automotive technical skills and service advising/sales skills while building a long-term career in the automotive industry.
Responsibilities:
Lube Technician Perform oil and filter changes Perform tire rotations and basic tire services Check and adjust tire pressures Inspect and replace air filters, cabin filters, wiper blades, bulbs, and other maintenance items Perform basic fluid inspections and services Complete thorough Digital Vehicle Inspections (DVIs) Take clear photos and accurately document vehicle conditions Identify visible maintenance and safety concerns Assist technicians with repairs and shop tasks within skill level Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area Properly clock in and out of assigned repair orders and jobs Follow Mallard Auto Care's established procedures and safety standards Service Advisor / Sales Greet customers and assist with vehicle check-in and pick-up Listen to customer concerns and accurately document requested services and symptoms Review technician findings and digital vehicle inspections Build and present repair and maintenance estimates Clearly explain recommended services and repairs Educate customers about vehicle maintenance and repair priorities Present recommendations ranging from routine maintenance to larger repair jobs Ask for repair authorization professionally and confidently Follow up on declined and previously recommended services Make outbound calls when needed Schedule appointments and assist with daily workflow Keep customers informed throughout the repair process Review completed repairs and recommendations with customers at pick-up Help provide a professional, transparent, and positive customer experience What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who can comfortably move between the shop and the front counter depending on the needs of the day. You should be willing to turn a wrench, talk to customers, learn the technical side of automotive repair, and develop strong sales skills. We are looking for someone who: Has basic automotive knowledge or a strong desire to learn Has customer service or sales experience, preferred Communicates professionally in person and over the phone Is comfortable discussing money and presenting repair estimates Can explain automotive services in a way customers can understand Is willing to ask for the sale without using high-pressure tactics Has strong attention to detail Is dependable and punctual Works well independently and as part of a team Is willing to learn and accept coaching Has a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Growth Opportunity This position provides hands-on experience in both major sides of an automotive repair shop. As skills develop, there is an opportunity to grow toward a full-time service advisor, automotive technician, or other leadership position within Mallard Auto Care. We're looking for someone who wants more than just a job. Pay:
