Job Description
Job Summary Diwan Trans Inc is looking for a dedicated Local Yard Mechanic to handle routine maintenance, oil changes, and tire services for our commercial fleet right here in Bakersfield. The primary focus of this role is to keep our trucks and trailers safely serviced, properly greased, and rolling with minimal downtime. Key Responsibilities Perform routine preventative maintenance, including fast and efficient engine oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks on commercial trucks. Inspect, repair, mount, balance, and replace truck and trailer tires in the yard to maintain optimal road safety. Conduct general safety inspections on dry van trailers (checking floors, doors, lighting, and landing gear) before equipment is dispatched. Maintain a clean, organized work area in the yard and keep proper records of all maintenance performed, oil usage, and tire replacements. Assist drivers and dispatchers with quick mechanical troubleshooting or minor roadside/yard fixes as needed. Qualifications & Requirements Hands-on experience performing oil changes, tire changes, and basic mechanical work on heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Ability to safely operate shop equipment, pneumatic tools, tire changers, and jacks. Reliable work ethic with the ability to work efficiently in an outdoor yard environment. Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus).
