The candidate must be able to analyze, troubleshoot, dismantle, align, assemble and adjust mechanical equipment and machinery to maintain it in efficient operating condition. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong safety awareness, precise equipment handling and adherence to industry regulations. Key Responsibilities Provide vehicle and equipment troubleshooting and diagnostic repairs
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic faults using computerized testing equipment and technical manuals.
- Adjust, replace, or rebuild parts to restore machinery functionality, including engines, transmissions, brake systems, and hydraulic components.
- Installation of new and added-on equipment Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic system failures.
Perform advanced troubleshooting using diagnostic software, OEM service information, and electronic testing equipment. Repair and maintain diesel and gasoline engines, drivetrains, steering systems, suspensions, hydraulic systems, air brake systems, HVAC systems, and electrical systems. Inspect, repair, and maintain aerial lifts, bucket trucks, cranes, trailers, pullers, tensioners, compressors, and construction equipment. Perform welding, fabrication, and equipment modifications as required. Review completed repairs for quality, safety, and compliance with company standards. Coordinate and inspect repairs completed by third-party vendors. Monitor work order completion, labor tracking, inspections, and preventative maintenance schedules within Fleetio. Assist with inventory control, parts procurement, and vendor coordination. Ensure compliance with DOT, BIT, OSHA, manufacturer, and company maintenance requirements. Conduct equipment inspections and identify safety concerns before failures occur May fabricate or modify parts for specialized equipment Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs to municipal equipment in order to ensure that the equipment is available, reliable and safe to operate Monitor parts usage and report on any materials issues Assist in ordering replacement equipment, parts and supplies Accurate completion of work orders Test repaired equipment for proper performance Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work Follow applicable OSHA and company safety standards and procedures. Maintain accurate logs, inspection reports, and documentation as required. Skills High school diploma or GED required. Technical school or trade certification preferred. Excellent hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude. Strong communication and teamwork skills, especially with ground crews. High safety awareness and adherence to strict safety protocols. Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing work environments Minimum 2-5 years of experience working with commercial equipment, machinery and vehicles. Ability to use hand tools, diagnostic equipment and lifting devices safely.
