Job Description

Automotive Service Writer / Service Advisor Northeast Rust Proofing Northeast Rust Proofing is looking for an experienced, organized, and mechanically knowledgeable Service Writer / Service Advisor to help manage our growing workload and customer base. This is not a sit-behind-the-counter-all-day position. Our Service Writer will work directly with customers and technicians, help manage the daily shop schedule, inspect and move vehicles, and assist with estimating rust remediation, chassis repair, and fabrication work. Responsibilities Schedule customer appointments and manage the daily and future shop schedule Greet customers and handle vehicle check-in and pickup Explain our rust prevention services, processes, and recommendations Prepare service estimates and communicate pricing clearly Inspect vehicles and help identify rust, corrosion, and repair concerns Quote rust remediation, chassis repair, and fabrication work Communicate customer concerns and approved work to technicians Keep customers informed of additional work, changes, or recommendations discovered during service Drive customer vehicles into and out of the shop and on and off vehicle lifts for technicians Safely operate vehicles of various sizes, including cars, trucks, SUVs, commercial vehicles, and vehicles equipped with automatic or manual transmissions Help maintain an organized and efficient flow of vehicles through the shop Follow up with customers regarding estimates, scheduling, and future service Maintain accurate customer and vehicle information Handle customer payments and perform register/cash-out procedures accurately What We're Looking For This position requires someone who is comfortable around vehicles and understands automotive repair . You don't necessarily need to be a full-time technician, but you need enough mechanical knowledge to understand what you're looking at, communicate with our technicians, and confidently explain repairs to customers.
The right person should be:
Mechanically knowledgeable Comfortable inspecting the underside of vehicles Able and comfortable driving vehicles of all sizes Proficient driving both automatic and manual transmissions Able to safely position vehicles on and off automotive lifts Able to understand and explain repair and fabrication work Confident speaking with customers in person and over the phone Organized and capable of managing multiple vehicles and appointments Able to provide estimates without guessing or overpromising Knowledgeable in register, payment, and cash-out procedures Comfortable handling cash, credit card, and other customer transactions accurately Detail-oriented with good follow-through Comfortable working in an active automotive shop environment Dependable and able to work independently About Northeast Rust Proofing Northeast Rust Proofing specializes in professional rust prevention, rust remediation, and structural chassis repair and fabrication. $47,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
