Job Description

Mobile Trailer Mechanic Location:
7545 S Madison St, Burr Ridge, IL 60527 (field-based, traveling between customer and company locations)
Employment Type & Schedule:
1099 Independent Contractor. Monday
  • Friday, 7:00 AM
  • 5:00 PM; Saturdays optional, 7:00 AM
  • 5:00 PM.
Pay Range:
$30
  • $35 per hour (based on experience) Job Summary GTS Transportation is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Mobile Trailer Mechanic to inspect, maintain, and repair trailers at our customer and company account locations.
This is a field-based, independent contractor role for a hands-on technician who works well independently and takes pride in keeping equipment safe and road-ready.
Key Responsibilities Field Travel:
Travel between customer and company account locations to service trailers on-site
Inspections:
Perform trailer inspections and assess overall equipment condition
Preventive Maintenance:
Complete preventive maintenance (PM) services on-site
Diagnose & Repair:
Diagnose and perform minor trailer repairs in the field
DOT Compliance:
Perform and issue Annual
FHWA/DOT
Inspections Safety Assessment:
Identify safety and maintenance issues and recommend additional repairs when necessary
Documentation:
Complete inspection reports and service documentation accurately
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Minimum 2 years of trailer repair experience ( Required )
Work Style:
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Technical:
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Traits:
Reliable, responsible, and detail-oriented
License:
Valid driver's license ( Required )
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift equipment and work in various weather conditions Preferred Experience CDL license Prior experience issuing Annual
FHWA/DOT
