Don Franklin Auto in Somerset, KY is currently seeking a skilled and self-motivated Lead Automotive Mechanic to join our team at our Somerset Recon (reconditioning) location. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of vehicles, ensuring optimal performance and safety to prepare pre-owned vehicles for sale within our dealership group. Salary pay will be based on experience and will be discussed during the interview process. Applicants must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics using automotive electrical systems, schematics, and advanced diagnostic tools to identify issues accurately. Conduct repairs on engines, transmissions, suspensions, brakes, shocks & struts, and other mechanical systems with precision and efficiency. Service vehicle maintenance including oil changes, tire rotations, wheel alignments, and brake repairs to ensure safety and reliability. Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and mechanical knowledge to complete repairs according to manufacturer specifications. Read and interpret technical manuals and schematics to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems effectively. Skills Proven automotive repair experience with a strong understanding of automotive repair procedures. Expertise in ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and auto electrical systems. Knowledge of brake systems, powertrain components, and automotive suspension systems repair. Skilled in transmission repair, wheel alignment, tire service, shocks & struts replacement, and oil change procedures. Ability to diagnose issues using automotive diagnostics tools and schematics efficiently. Strong communication skills with the ability to relay technical information clearly.
