What we expect Job Description A Diesel & Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for general maintenance of 40+ diesel vehicles and heavy equipment in support of Fleet operations for Phoenix Communications Inc., Axis Engineering Group and Coastal Fiber. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards: Completing preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repairing diesel trucks and heavy equipment Brake work; inspecting and replacing brake parts, as needed Inspecting, repairing and replacing Air Systems, as needed Identifying and repairing minor hydraulic issues on boom equipment Ensuring operation and maintenance of heavy digging equipment, including Caterpillar, Komatsu, Kubota and Hitachi excavators & backhoes Electrical diagnostics and repair of trailer lights, brakes on chassis and/or trailers Assisting in the diagnosis, repairs, and maintenance to fleet gas vehicles Assisting in the diagnosis, repairs, and maintenance of small engines 2 or more years of experience Good written and verbal communication skills Must be able to work any shift High School Graduate/Equivalency, Technical School Certification preferred
