Job Description

Kottke Trucking, a privately held, family-owned truckload carrier specializing in reefer (temperature controlled) and dry freight services, is looking for a Mechanic to join our team. We gave been in continuous operation since 1938 by three generations of the Kottke family. Service driven, with old-fashioned work ethics, we strive to build long-term customer relationships through outstanding customer service. Function of Job:
Under supervision of the shop shift lead, responsible for ensuring quality and timely equipment repairs at our shop.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform all duties of skilled diesel mechanic following recognized procedures for such work, as required. Following direction and scheduling from the shop lead Following procedures for completion of work orders and billing out parts. Advise supervisor of matters deserving attention regarding repairs and issues with making repairs by departure times. Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
High school graduation and mechanical aptitude. Computer/data entry skills for management of software for maintenance program and parts inventory control. Knowledge of methods, tools and equipment of the trade. Possess the basic tools needed to perform the job. Detailed knowledge of the principles of internal combustion engines and automotive components, including auto-electric, air brakes, after treatment, reefer units and mechanical systems. Ability to analyze malfunctions and apply corrective action. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics. Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to wear and use appropriate protective equipment, as necessary.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
Technical school graduation. But not required
