Automotive Technician Vermilion Automotive & Tire - Vermilion, Ohio We are looking for an experienced A-Level Automotive Technician / Diagnostic Technician to join our team. This is NOT an entry-level position. We are looking for a technician who can confidently take a difficult vehicle from symptom → diagnosis → repair → verification without guessing or replacing unnecessary parts. The right technician should be comfortable handling advanced diagnostics as well as major mechanical repairs on a wide variety of makes and models. What We're Looking For 10+ years of professional automotive repair experience preferred Strong electrical and drivability diagnostic ability Ability to diagnose problems accurately — not just read trouble codes and replace parts Advanced scan-tool knowledge, including live data/PIDs, bidirectional controls, relearns and system testing Strong ability with digital multimeters and test lights Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams Electrical circuit testing, voltage-drop testing and parasitic-draw diagnosis Ability to diagnose no-start, intermittent and difficult electrical problems Strong understanding of CAN/network and module communication issues Check-engine-light and drivability diagnosis ABS, SRS, TPMS and chassis-system diagnosis HVAC and electrical diagnosis Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills Ability to independently determine the root cause of a customer's concern Mechanical Repair Experience Our A-Level technician should also be comfortable performing: Engine repair and replacement Timing chains and timing belts Transmission diagnosis, service and replacement Steering and suspension Brake systems, including hydraulic/brake-line repairs Cooling-system repairs Exhaust repair and welding Wheel bearings, axles and drivetrain repairs Preventive maintenance General repair on domestic, Asian and European vehicles Hybrid experience is a plus What We Expect You should be able to receive a difficult vehicle, develop a diagnostic plan, perform the necessary testing, identify the actual failure, recommend the correct repair and verify the repair before the vehicle leaves the shop. ASE Master Technician certification is a major plus. A valid driver's license and professional automotive repair experience are required. Schedule Full-time position. Technician must be available to work two Saturdays per month.
