Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
Bottoms Bridge Tire & Auto Care is seeking an experienced Automotive Technician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for accurately inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing customer vehicles while maintaining clear documentation and consistent quality standards. We are looking for a dependable technician who can work productively within an organized repair-order workflow, communicate findings clearly, and complete authorized repairs correctly and efficiently. Diagnostic experience is strongly preferred. The technician will work closely with the Shop Foreman, Front Office Manager, Parts Manager, and Service Writers. This is a hands-on technician position and does not include responsibility for managing the front office, parts department, or other technicians.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform digital vehicle inspections thoroughly and accurately. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, drivability, and performance concerns. Complete general maintenance and automotive repairs according to industry standards. Follow assigned repair orders and established shop priorities. Review the repair order and customer concerns before beginning work. Document diagnostic testing, inspection findings, and repair recommendations clearly. Explain which component failed, why the recommendation is being made, and what repair is required. Include clear photographs and supporting information with inspection recommendations. Reference applicable mileage-based maintenance recommendations. Verify that customer-authorized work is completed correctly. Notify the Shop Foreman promptly when additional concerns, parts needs, or delays are identified. Communicate with the Parts Manager regarding incorrect, damaged, or missing parts. Perform quality-control checks before marking work complete. Maintain personal tools, assigned equipment, and work areas. Follow all shop safety procedures and company standards. Participate in training and continued technical development. Assist with maintaining a clean, safe, and organized shop.DIAGNOSTIC EXPERIENCE
Candidates with experience in the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply: Check-engine lights and drivability concerns Electrical and wiring problems Starting and charging systems Heating and air-conditioning systems Cooling-system and overheating concerns Steering, suspension, brake, and vibration concerns Noise complaints and intermittent problems Mechanical engine concerns Scan-tool data interpretation Reading wiring diagrams Structured diagnostic testing Technicians must be able to diagnose beyond simply reading a default code. Diagnostic recommendations should be supported by testing, documented findings, and a clearly identified cause.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Professional automotive repair experience Working knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair procedures Ability to use standard automotive tools and equipment Ability to complete work accurately and within reasonable labor-time expectations Strong attention to detail Clear written and verbal communication Dependable attendance and professional conduct Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Personal tools appropriate for the position Ability to work independently while following established shop proceduresPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced diagnostic experience ASE certifications Virginia State Inspection license Experience with Mitchell1 or a similar shop-management system Experience completing digital vehicle inspections Experience working on domestic, Asian, and European vehicles Electrical, drivability, or HVAC diagnostic experiencePERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Successful technicians at Bottoms Bridge Tire & Auto Care are expected to: Produce accurate and complete inspections. Submit clear notes and useful photographs. Maintain steady productivity throughout the workday. Complete assigned work correctly and efficiently. Communicate delays and additional findings immediately. Avoid allowing repair orders to remain stalled without an identified next step. Follow job assignments and workflow priorities. Support realistic vehicle completion dates.
