Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Facilities professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will be able to successfully perform a variety of work in the setup, maintenance and general care of the church campus to help Highlands accomplish its mission and vision. This is a part-time position requiring some weekend availability. Responsibilities Perform a variety of general handyman, repair and facility maintenance tasks throughout the campus. Complete small construction and improvement projects, including building, assembling, modifying and repairing facility items and spaces. Perform basic electrical work, such as replacing fixtures, switches, outlets and other minor electrical repairs within the scope of the position. Perform basic plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, drains, fixtures and other minor plumbing needs. Perform drywall repair, patching, painting, caulking and other interior finish work. Troubleshoot and repair doors, hardware, cabinetry, furniture, fixtures and other building components. Assist with preventative maintenance and identify facility issues before they become larger problems. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and facility needs while minimizing disruption to church operations. Assist with campus beautification and outdoor maintenance, including pressure washing, leaf blowing, minor repairs and general upkeep. Occasionally assist with room setups and tear-downs for church services and special events, including tables, chairs and other equipment. Provide facilities support during larger events as needed, including trash removal, restocking supplies and addressing facility-related needs. Work alongside staff, volunteers and contractors to complete projects and keep campus spaces safe, functional, and well maintained. Skills General knowledge of construction, building maintenance, tools, and repair practices. Hands-on experience with basic electrical, plumbing, drywall, painting, carpentry, and general repair work preferred. Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine practical solutions to everyday facility issues. Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and common maintenance equipment. Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, carrying, climbing ladders, and working both indoors and outdoors. Ability to work independently on assigned projects while also working effectively as part of a team. Strong communication skills; English required. Experience operating equipment such as pressure washers, leaf blowers, golf carts, or lifts is a plus. Construction, remodeling, or commercial building maintenance experience is preferred but not required. Physical Qualifications Ability to easily navigate Highlands campus and various off-site locations ( i.e., supply stores, etc.) Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds consistently Walk the campus and stand for a minimum 4-hour shift
