Job Summary Join the opening team of our brand-new Hilton Garden Inn / Homewood Suites dual-brand hotel in Alameda, CA! We are seeking a dependable, skilled, and hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join our opening team. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining guest rooms, public areas, equipment, and building systems to ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for our guests and team members. As part of the opening team, you will have the opportunity to help establish preventive maintenance procedures and maintain a brand-new property at a high standard from day one. Duties & Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel. Respond promptly to guest room and departmental maintenance requests. Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, appliances, fixtures, locks, and other hotel equipment . Perform preventive maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, mechanical equipment, and hotel facilities. Complete guest room preventive maintenance inspections and correct identified deficiencies. Perform basic painting, drywall repair, caulking, furniture repair, and other general building maintenance. Inspect hotel facilities regularly and identify potential maintenance or safety issues. Complete and document work orders accurately and in a timely manner. Communicate room maintenance status with Front Office and Housekeeping to minimize out-of-order rooms and guest disruption. Assist with maintenance of hotel kitchens, laundry equipment, fitness facilities, and other operational areas. Monitor building and mechanical systems and immediately report unusual conditions or major equipment failures. Maintain Engineering work areas, mechanical rooms, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized condition. Maintain appropriate inventory of maintenance parts and supplies. Assist and coordinate with outside contractors, vendors, and service technicians as needed. Follow all hotel safety, security, emergency, and applicable workplace safety procedures. Respond professionally and courteously when completing maintenance work in occupied guest rooms. Support Engineering operations for both Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites . Assist with hotel opening projects, installations, inspections, and other Engineering needs. Perform other duties as assigned by hotel management. Qualifications Previous hotel, apartment, commercial building, or facilities maintenance experience preferred. Previous hotel Engineering/Maintenance experience is highly preferred. Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building maintenance . Ability to troubleshoot problems and perform basic repairs independently. Experience with preventive maintenance programs preferred. Previous Hilton experience is a plus . Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize work orders and respond appropriately to urgent maintenance issues. Ability to communicate professionally with guests, team members, vendors, and management. Comfortable using basic hand and power tools. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Ability to perform the physical duties normally associated with hotel maintenance, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays . Availability to respond to emergency maintenance situations may be required based on hotel operational needs.
